NottinghamWhite wrote:The most amazing fruit I’ve ever seen was in Borneo it was a durian fruit which our guide bought from a roadside stall. The moment he came back on the bus you could smell the fruit it was totally overpowering. Apparently it’s so bad it’s banned from all public transport & even taxis. After a while, at the next stop he cut the fruit up & offered it to the group, I passed but asked a lady who tried it what’s it like. She said it was a combination of savoury, sweet & cream. It’s supposed to taste like diced garlic & caramel.
The strange was we had just visited a farm that was letting you see ( for $10 each ) a rafflesia plant which was a very smelly plant. All in all a strange/smelly day
I love Mangosteen fruit and have it all the time when i visit Bali, really nice!!!!

I’ve read about durian fruit but never seen it but I don’t think I would be bothered about eating it if I’m honest.

Durian is very nice to eat, I've eaten it on a number of occasions here in the Philippines, I dislike the smell but it does have that sweetness and creamy texture to it. The one thing that people don't realize though is that it raises the blood pressure. When i first came to the Philippines to live five years ago i went to a funeral of my wife's classmate who died as a result of overindulgence of Durian, alcohol and squid Durian and squid being the culprits of raising his blood pressure to a level he never recovered from. Its very common here because of the mainly rice diets.

I will try to upload some of the more exotic fruits for you guys soon. if i can figure out how to upload them again....
