Re: where in the world
The first thought is somewhere in Holland, but as for narrowing it down I'm absolutely clueless.

Is it Rotterdam? I think that's where Erasmus from. Being a port could tie in with the petrochemical thing.mapperleywhite wrote:Erasmusbrug

Spot on Sniffer, well doneSniffer wrote:Is it Rotterdam? I think that's where Erasmus from. Being a port could tie in with the petrochemical thing.mapperleywhite wrote:Erasmusbrug - Erasmus of Rotterdam was considered to be one of the greatest scholars of the northern renaissance (I learnt today )
Hotel New York - Is a fabulous art deco building that used to be the HQ of the Holland to America passenger line; I've been lucky enough to stay there a few times on business, highly recommended!
Belegde broodjes - Dutch sandwiches that are absolutely rammed with food; not really a favourite
Sint-Laurenskerk - there's a very poignant picture on Wiki of the shell of the church standing among the rubble of the city after the Luftwaffe had flattened it in 1940. Fully restored now
Petrochemicals Rotterdam and the surrounding area has a huge amount of operations related to oil and chemical products because the crude arrives at the port

Re: where in the world
Right. Here we go. An easy one, I think.
. The world's largest teak building
. A floating market
. It is the "City of angels …"
. Buddha reclines
More than 5 words, though. I think we've departed somewhat from the original remit.

Re: where in the world
Well my money is on somewhere in Asia. Only place I've visited in Asia is China and don't think its anywhere I visited on that tour.
First thought was Hong Kong (floating market clue) or Burma (Buddha).
So will split the difference with my guess and go for Vietnam or to be more Specific Ho Chi Min City.
