Struggled through the first 2 episodes of The Quiz. I think they could have pulled this off in one episode, definitely two. Michael Sheen as Chris Tarrent is spot on, as usual but thats the best bit. I don't even know if I'll bother with tonights episode.

Missed the first one but watched last night, thought a lot of it was amateur dramatics to be honest.Davycc wrote:Struggled through the first 2 episodes of The Quiz. They’ve made the Major out to be a right old dim wit, apparently the real major and his wife visited the set a few times but were not consulted in the making of the programme.Davycc wrote:Struggled through the first 2 episodes of The Quiz. Tracey said exactly the same thing about the acting. Didn't watch it last night.Selby White wrote:Missed the first one but watched last night, thought a lot of it was amateur dramatics to be honest.Davycc wrote:Struggled through the first 2 episodes of The Quiz. Apparently they are now selling homemade Jewelry at market stalls. greed is a terrible thing, made to resign his commission and lost a decent pension.

Re: Worth watching on telly
I never watch Telly but a few days ago I decided to look at what was on. Looked at the main five channels for three consecutive days and there wasn't a single program that I was interested in watching. Lots of 'repeats' too, repeats of programs you wouldn't have watched first time round. Rant over - feel better for it.
I once played against Don Revie.
Re: Worth watching on telly
The quality has been diluted on the main channels for years as they fill up the airwaves with cheap crap.
Pick something more specialist and stick to it. I only ever watch about half a dozen channels when I watch "live" TV these days - everything else is either streamed or on demand.
As for the show about Millionaire, I heard an excellent interview with Chris Tarrant on Hawksbee and Jacobs last week. He was stunned by Sheen's performance saying he didn't do a cheap imitation but a studied and detailed recreation that relied as much on the physical as the verbal, including several twitches and movements he never noticed till he saw him doing them in the drama. He said he went back over the tapes to see if it was exaggerated and found it was highly accurate.
On the plot of the show Tarrant got quite heated as he'd said from the off in the interview that they were definitely guilty with no doubt at all to his mind. He complained that the show was too sympathetic and the way they only showed the defence's summary during the court case was unfair because the prosecution's was irrefutable in real life.
It made me want to watch it even less than I already did.
One funny thing though : none of the original happening was broadcast, we only imagine that we all saw it. There was footage during the news breaking back at the time, but the show itself was massively edited to make sure they included pretty much all of the previous contestant and none of the major upon police advice.
That made me think because I was pretty sure I'd actually watched it too ..

Started watching on catch up after reading this post. Really enjoying it. The final leg next week wouldn’t want to predict the outcome. Jen and Rob despite a 6 hour deficit still have 24% of their budget left so they have to be strong contenders. Some wonderful scenery on offer.Selby White wrote:Anyone else watching "Race across the world" on BBC2 each Sunday.
5 pairs compete to get from A to B with a limited budget and no Phone and can't fly.
This years competition started in Mexico City and they will eventually get Ushuaia (Argentina)the southern most city in the world.
