FA to to apologise to Don Revie's family?

Post by Westminster »

Labour MP, Chris Evans, is asking the FA to apologise to Don Revie's family for the way they treated him after Revie resigned from the England job.

Revie, as many of you know, was initially banned from managing for ten years by the FA and never worked in this country again. Evans, who has written a book about Revie, is arguing that Don Revie was the first victim of 'cancel culture' and that the FA unfairly tarnished his reputation.

Frankly, I agree. Don Revie was a brilliant at Leeds but he never gets a mention when pundits go on about great managers of the past. Busby, Shankly, Clough, etc. get all the plaudits but Revie never gets a mention - which, to me, is both sad and wrong.

Obviously, we all love Leeds but that team of Revie's were, in many ways, cultural icons. Whatever you thought of them. Don Revie and his team left a legacy that should be recognised and celebrated.

More power to Chris Evans I say.

Good idea.

I don't think anyone is holding their breath in anticipation of this succeeding but well played anyway to the author
