Pies are defined by their crusts. As long as it is baked and covered with some sort of topping eg, pastry, potato or even pasta, it can be called a pie.ChilwellWhite wrote:Sorry to hear that SW love kidneys me much prefer them to liver. Re: Pies
I used to make and serve a game pepperpot pie. It consisted of venison, grouse, partridge, smoked streaky bacon, pork belly, root vegetables, green peppercorns, red wine, port and fresh herbs, all cooked in a rich gravy and served under a herbed cheesy suet pastry. Not for the faint hearted, but the gentlemen of Mayfair (including a well known Royal) used to love it.

In some parts of the country, yes. Called a pie floater, basically a meat pie covered in usually mushy peas.NottinghamWhite wrote:I was really surprised during our holiday to Australia how many different pies were for sale we bought one most lunchtimes and had it in the park. Lots of their pies had a layer of peas. Mr Russell is this common in Oz ?
Meat pies are an Australian staple food but you know what I can't stand meat pies, vege pies etc.
Apple or other fruit pies then I'm all for.
Owners come and go but Leeds United will be there forever, for the fans - keep Marching on Together.
