Any good pubs?

Post by LeedsCelt »

Hello lads,

Faithful supporter from good old Glasgow, I intend to go to the Leeds vs Brighton game on 19th is there any good pubs to go to before the match?

Peacock is bang opposite South Stand. Or The Dragon or Drysalters both about 5 minutes walk from ground.
In town normally all the Wetherspoons pubs are busy, Becketts Bank (Park Row) and Cuthbert Brodericks (Millennium Square). And theres places like West Riding, Scarborough Taps etc too which are normally pretty busy on match days. I dont go in town generally before matches though so others may advise you different I normally go Dragon or Peacock

Leeds is normally very busy on matchdays, mate.
If you want a good curry, the one outside the stations opposite the Scarborough Taps is absolutely brilliant - it's called Shabab and you can read some reviews here: http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant ... gland.html

There's a pub slightly further away from there that's a bit quieter before the match where I often meet up with mates when I come up (I live in Southampton) and that's called The Grove. If you walk away from the curry house, through the underpass, over the canal and cross the road there, it's about five minutes away on a corner just past the Tesco Express: http://whatpub.com/pubs/LEE/73/grove-inn-leeds
It's got a fantastic selection of real ales and is also a live music venue, on a folksy/bluesy tip.
If you like proper beer, it's brilliant, but it does get rammed after matches like all the rest :D

Cheers mate!! I'm sure most of us would like to have a wee swally before the game , I'll definitely check it out . My uncle is a leeds supporter but he can't make it with me so I have to make my own way there. Anyway thanks very much for the recommendations really need it.

The Whistlestop and the Old white Hart in Beeston are better than the Peacock and drysalters in my opinion.

You can get the bus from the city centre straight to Beeston.

Given its a tuesday night the pubs wont be that busy as compared to a saturday as well.
