In fairness, I'd suggest that Rio was easily as good as either Charlton or Hunter, but they have to get into an all-time Leeds XI because of appearances and honours won.birkybullufc wrote:I would say Rio was at his best when he was at Leeds. O'Leary & staff turned him from a good footballer into a World class defender. His performances in WC2000 highlighted that.
When Batty returned to the club for his swan song. His influence when he played was outstanding. We hardly seemed to lose when he played. His range of passing was never better.
Paul Robinson also probably at his best when at Leeds and maybe should have gone to achieve more.
Saying all that they all would struggle to get near Revie's team.
Leeds United's Top 100 players. Do you agree?

No, I didn't mean arguing in a belligerent sense, just arguing like debating.Aces wrote: I didn't think he was anywhere near arguing TBH.

Cheers SM
There's been some great players at Leeds over the years, World class players, not all of them showed their full class at Leeds. I personally agree with the best 11, I once picked a slightly different team, just the odd different player, but I'll go with the Best 11 chosen in 2006.

We are Leeds, we have to believe our new players are good enough, encourage and support them and help them grow in to a team to be reckoned with. MoT

Thanks to those defending my position
As for the Saints' team, yeah maybe Bale would get in ahead of Jimmy Case, if we dropped Keegan into midfield I suppose
I can't believe we're "arguing" that side, to be honest, but I do love a good "Best ever .." debate ... and on any subject

You couldn't drop Jimmy Case. You'd never get the ball back.

Yes there are a few who played for Leeds in the 20/30's in there as well and its a 4-4-2 formation with Howard Wilkinson in charge.

Er NO! Not even in my worst nightmare
I do love trying to pick a best of all time XI's, i remember on the old forum we picked one team for each decade in the 70/80/90's for Leeds, think even the 60's might have been involved as well (not sure), had many a good time working on those teams and always brings up a good debate even though the best ever team is virtually written in stone.
I looked at Rigger Saints XI and all bar one of them ended up and England full international player bar one, Jimmy Case i was surprised at that.

Mr.R
I did that deliberately, actually, just for fun because all day everyone was banging on about Greg Dyke's pronouncements on the radio ...
There were loads of great foreigners I could have picked.
But then this is one never-ending subject, isn't it ??

Emotion aside, apart from being a spoilt greedy little faggot, knewell was very talented, but had unfulfilled potential. Of our wide players he falls behind gray, graham, strachen & lorimer. Him and woodgate, had the talent to perform on the world stage, it's a pity it was unfulfilled at Leeds.BigLeedsFan72 wrote:I can't believe Kewell made no ones list He is so good all you need is:
