Wilfred Martin wrote:Our two top scorers in terms of number of goals scored and goals scored per game haven't yet had a mention. Could it be that the sheer excitement of some of Tony Yeboah's goals outweigh the consistent goal scoring of other players?

Lee Chapman is obviously one of them with 62 goals in 137 games giving a strike rate of a goal every 2.2 games.

Mark Viduka - 59 goals in 130 games is about the same 2.2
Tony Yeboah - 32 goals in 66 games is better at 2.06
These two did it at a higher level as we were playing in europe at the time.

Jimmy Floyd Hassebaink 34 goals in 69 games beats them all with a ratio of 2.02 which is excellent when it came at a time when we were scoring very few goals as a team under George Graham.

The myth that is Eric Cantona is poor by comparrison with only 9 goals in 28 games at a rate of less than a goal every 3 games.

Of course the best ratio of the lot is Jermaine Beckford with 72 goals in 126 games a fantatic ratio of a goal every 1.75 games, but the fact this was done in lower leagues sort of goes against him when deciding the best.

'Favourite team' is far more enjoyable to put together than 'best team'.

That side might beat the revie team - partly as because there are 12 of them!
