Secret Footballer

Post by tuttoa »

Unsure if you've heard of the Secret Footballer, he is a (former?) Premier League player, he writes alot! Recently he had some words to say on Leeds. Unsure what to make of his comments. Below are a few;

When I play at Leeds, I feel the sense of a club that feels it deserves to be back among not just the British elite but the European set, too.

They have everything going for them – a huge fan base, decent brand, history in abundance and something that money can’t buy. They have an edge to them.

The fans are intimidating and Elland Road, given its size, can intimidate young players. I’ve seen that several times.

Leeds’ trouble on the pitch is that they aren’t evolving. They are still trying to stick with this image that they have had for years.

They seem bound by the “dirty Leeds” mantra and bring in managers like Neil Warnock to implement it.

Some interesting comments here and an actually insightful read. He bascially says in the article that one of our stands could shut, don't know what to make of that. e had words for every Championship club too...Full piece here: http://www.thesecretfootballer.com/arti ... s/#slide-6

That is not why we hired Neil Warnock We hired Neil Warnock because he's a promotion specialist and promotion was, and is, what we desire.

Crap comments anyway, McDermott wasn't into the 'dirty Leeds' tag, he wanted the Super Leeds one.

BS from a normally reliably interesting writer, reputed to be Dave Kitson

I listen to Danny murphy a lot on talksport and it sounds like something he might write especially the use of the word shocking. Didn't realise the Elland Road pitch was that bad?

It isn't, as far as I see each week or so. Having said that, beer tinted glasses are usually worn when I'm down there.

Very insightful... not...

the few times I've seen it this year the pitch looks pretty impressive by championship standards? (how long is it since this guy actually played on it?)

I love the "if I had the money I'd find myself the latest Brendan Rodgers/Roberto Martinez" comment! Brilliant! Good luck with that, that's like saying I'd buy the next winning lottery ticket.... If we had the magic crystal ball we could all do that.

He got one thing right, this club should be in the EPL, let's hope it's sooner rather than later, I would hate to see the West stand fall over in the next strong wind ;)
