Sorry but I think you went a bit too far, i've seen figures for a 60m rise if we melt all of the ice caps and glaciers, loads oftalk about 10m in the next five years from the current rate of melt.

Leeds a seaside resort ..... Bring it on I say.
We are Leeds, we have to believe our new players are good enough, encourage and support them and help them grow in to a team to be reckoned with. MoT

Since 1930 the average sea level increase is under 2mm, last 10 years its increased to 2.6mm so think its 10mm not 10m we are talking in next 5 years.stephenneilwhite wrote:Sorry but I think you went a bit too far, i've seen figures for a 60m rise if we melt all of the ice caps and glaciers, loads oftalk about 10m in the next five years from the current rate of melt.
Long term prediction varies between 50cm & 1.5m by year 2100.

Yes, I think the metric system is the problem. 100m rise is over 300ft!!! Haven't tried it but they do say that if you put some ice cubes in a glass of water, after the cubes have melted the water level doesn't change.Selby White wrote:Since 1930 the average sea level increase is under 2mm, last 10 years its increased to 2.6mm so think its 10mm not 10m we are talking in next 5 years.stephenneilwhite wrote:Sorry but I think you went a bit too far, i've seen figures for a 60m rise if we melt all of the ice caps and glaciers, loads oftalk about 10m in the next five years from the current rate of melt.

Might have to take an interest in the Premier League now....
Re: If the sea rose 100m ...
100 metres does seem a little excessive. I live near the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol. It is just over 100 metres from the high water mark of the River Avon and the bridge.johnh wrote:Yes, I think the metric system is the problem. 100m rise is over 300ft!!!
