The buy back price is currently 16 or 17m with it increasing each year at a fixed rate. Average seat at ER ie revenue divided by numbers must be in region of £25? Altho you'd have to factor in juniors, OAPs etc so maybe much less.johnh wrote:Does anyone know:
1. How much it would cost to buy ER?
2. What is the 'average' price of a seat at ER? (guestimate)

Re: Elland Road
Thanks dlw10. Just thinking out loud.
Using £16m as the purchase price and £25 as the average seat price:
It would take 16,000 fans each putting in £1000 to buy ER. Obviously, there would be some big investors who would put In large sums. The problem with this is that it then becomes less of a 'fans ownership'. Someone putting in, say, £2m would probably be looking for a return on that investment, the 'fans consortium' risks becoming a 'business consortium'. The £1000 fan would have no leverage.
If the average seat price is £25 and the rental cost to LU is 6000 x £25, then just over 4.5* years of rentals would buy ER. It would seem to be a no brainer for the club to buy ER.
* based on home league games per season.
If 6 wealthy investors each put in £2m it would still mean finding 4,000 fans to put in £1000.
As it is early in the morning it may be that both the logic and arithmetic leave something to be desired.
