Re: Weight loss
To be fair you all seem to be giving this a real go, with Aaron an inspiration atm, just wondering if everyone is feeling better or has more energy for losing a bit of weight.

Re: Weight loss
Its a good question and difficult to say for sure but I would say yes.LAsouthcoast wrote:To be fair you all seem to be giving this a real go, with Aaron an inspiration atm, just wondering if everyone is feeling better or has more energy for losing a bit of weight.
A few measures -
I've come in one notch on my belt since we started.
My average resting pulse rate is lower than it was according to my fitbit (was 72 now 68).
On fridays i do a table tennis training session (not matches but practice routines) and was doing around 6,000 steps and now it's just under 8,000 in the time (2hrs). Think I'm also playing better in matches, still not complacent want to get better, faster and win more.
Some of the above may not be fully related to weight loss as I seem to have sorted a knee injury out which helps
Saying all that still a lot to do to reach my goal weight for this year, just happy I'm on target at this early stage.
Anyone else ?

Re: Weight loss
When I first retired, I jumped from 11st 4lb (ish) to 14st within 6 months, absolutely crazy when I think about it now. A combination of fast food , beer and just general malaise. It got to the point when I used to get breathless when I was going upstairs.
One night, my Mrs who loves me to bits, told me I was resting my hands on my bulging stomach, a bit Jim Royle (from The Royle Family). The next day I was in town, and called in at the towns leisure centre. They did me a programme, told me to go three mornings a week, and a friend told me to get a book called Eat for Life by Bill Phillips. Within a short period of time I was down to 10st 5lb. I still go to the gym 3 days a week now, and settled on 11st.
Put the work and effort in, and you’ll do it.

Re: Weight loss
I think we all know really it is eat sensibly and increase activity and you have a chance of losing weight, it takes will power though.
Re: Weight loss
your body is like an engine, to varying degrees. My old PTI put it in a very simplified way.
Put in more fuel (calories) than you burn = add weight
Put in the same fuel as you burn = stay the same
Put in less fuel than you burn = lose weight.
Of course the engine can be tuned with carbs and proteins etc but that was it in a nut shell.
