Yeah, exactly - which is not necessarily a bad thing, especially if he does take up a sergeant-major style role, acting as the link between the players (or troops) and the decision-makers (or officers).
Having said that, he did allude to picking the team himself, didn't he ?
At one point, I thought he said "As manager .." too, but I watched it again and he said "It's my job to .." but I did notice Murphy referred to him as "the manager" at one point.
