Leeds United players made to bring packed lunches to save money

The Leeds United players have been forced to bring packed lunches to pre-season training, as a cost cutting measure at the Yorkshire club, according to the Mirror. Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino closed the kitchen at the club’s Thorp Arch training ground, meaning the squad had to bring in individual packed lunches with them to training.

The Championship club are going through a process of significant cost-cutting, to help reduce the expenditure of the club. And new head coach David Hockaday is expecting that the reduction of expenditure will continue across the club.

“The basic thing about everything that is going to happen from the president downwards is that we are going to be leaner and will have to be meaner", Hockaday said. “We are going to have to get rid of all the excess baggage; there’s too much excess baggage at Leeds – in every department. We need to pare things back, get it right back to the bones and start fleshing it out as we want. It will be ongoing and from a business point of view, that’s Mr Cellino’s business. It’s just too much, we are hemorrhaging in every department. I am sure there will be people unfortunately going out and that’s life, not just football, on and off the pitch."

must say that this appears editorial sensationalist nonsense, don't know where they dug this up from. But take it as a compliment, means you have a presence in the 'big' world that many teams would only dream of ... !
