Midfield general solution: Stephen Warnock in a Philipp Lahm-style conversion to central midfield.

Is that code for "FM says he is competent as a DM"? :D

Interesting stat I thought was worth sharing.
LUFC Tommy D
‏@tdski_LUFC Most significant stat - our squad's average age is 24.9 but our most common starting line-up's average age is just 21.9 years old. #lufc

No, Si - he played a lot of games as a DMC during his time at Villa

Really? I didn't know that, but that adds further fuel to the fire of the idea that he could be our midfield general.

But the fact that he can do a job as a DM on FM also came to mind though, didn't it? ;)

Yeah, sometimes it's good to be old :D

He's actually a lot like Gareth Barry when you think about it: calm and mature, leads by example, never lets you down, not particularly quick but has a few yards in his head and good on the ball, rarely giving it away. Plus they can both play DL/WBL/DMLC/MLC.
They can actually both play DC in a pinch but I wouldn't want them there.

Okay then, with all that in mind, how about this as a line-up ?

Oh, and in that formation Byram is a wing-back, Taylor more a steady left back, while Mowatt drifts to the flank and interchanges with Adryan who has a license to roam behind Antenucci with Murphy and Warnock sitting back more while Sloth bombs into the box.

I like the team, but I think Cook should be in there for Murphy or Mowatt, probably former, as a ball carrier to bring the ball out and start attacks, and to bring some mobility in the midfield as neither Mowatt or Murphy are the quickest or agilest. For some opponents, perhaps Austin should come in as well.

Rigger, I prefer the Philipp Lahm comparison to Gareth Barry as the latter is playing absolute crap for Everton this season. I know what you mean though. Evertpn are trying the same with Baines.
I once played against Don Revie.
