I knew about Brendon as he used to deliver to the hotel we stay in at Scarborough. David Harvey lives on The Shetlands & became a crofter & a postman. Mike O’Grady could be sort of counted as he ran a post office.

Maybe Shaun Harvey put in a good word for them.
I once played against Don Revie.

Just finished watching the Bristol Rovers game on the official app. Even though I knew the outcome was still nervous watching it

Yes watched as well. The one thing that surprised me was the respect and affection players like Beckford had for Ken Bates. Also Beckford thought he would get another contract instead of his transfer to Everton. Didn’t recognise Andy Hughes at first.NottinghamWhite wrote:Just finished watching the Bristol Rovers game on the official app. Even though I knew the outcome was still nervous watching it

Owners come and go but Leeds United will be there forever, for the fans - keep Marching on Together.

Was trawling through You tube and spotted an old video of a 1970's World Championship Snooker final between Ray Reardon and Perrie Mans. Compared with today's top players, the finalists were about the same as two very good club players. They even played the odd shot that I would be embarrassed to play! The commentary was dated too. In one frame, the commentator said 'Perry Mans, only one point behind now.' The score board showed Perrie Mans 23 Ray Reardon 24.

I think all sports evolve through better training/practice, equipment, diet, knowledge, etc You only need to look at things like athletic records (Roger Bannister would be nowhere).johnh wrote:Was trawling through You tube and spotted an old video of a 1970's World Championship Snooker final between Ray Reardon and Perrie Mans. But think you've hit the nail on the head with snooker as it's moved on more than any other sport. Ray Reardon the history books will tell you he's an all time great with 5 world titles but his career century count is 46 which wouldnt be anywhere close to today's top players.
Think I'm right in saying Perry Man's never made a tournament century break in his career.

Just to clarify. It wasn't a criticism, just an example as to how things change. Ray Reardon won several World Championships and he could only beat what was there at the time. But it was interesting to see them playing safe when modern players would take the pot on without thinking. The commentator was even impressed when Perrie Mans potted a long red and screwed the white back half-way between the blue and the baulk colours! (Mind you, I wish I could do that )Selby White wrote:I think all sports evolve through better training/practice, equipment, diet, knowledge, etc You only need to look at things like athletic records (Roger Bannister would be nowhere).johnh wrote:Was trawling through You tube and spotted an old video of a 1970's World Championship Snooker final between Ray Reardon and Perrie Mans. When you retire, you switch bosses - from the one that hired you, to the one that married you.
