Blimey.

I lived in a place called Bitterne, Southampton, for years as a kid :wtf:

I knew it was named after the bird too - used to be common down on the Itchen river once upon a time.
Extremely rare now, though :(

I think the last one is the Fish Eagle also known as the Zimbabwian Bird. (Jonty Rhodes, Stanley finding Livingston in Rhodesia)

Rather tenuous I agree, but can't think of anything else.
I once played against Don Revie.

Problem is it only has 7 letters ;) edit to say we are however on the same train of thought. I keep thinking its skylark, the lark bit being jonty..

Well if I get a cryptic crossword solution that doesn't fit in I just black out a square or two. :D

The book was often a standard school text for anyone under 50, mate :lol:
