Just banned two tonight, both from individual IP's and both accounts are 'man made'. Probably just people paid to spam the internet...

We see 'em. We ban 'em. Simple as that, can't really do much more without ruining some of the essential parts of what makes this a great site. To be fair they are very rarely up for more than 30 minutes and do not cause too much of a problem.

I wouldn't want the registering process made any more difficult. As said by others, part of what makes the site great is its accessibility and hospitability. Is anyone truly that bothered by the occassional kitchen thread that gets deleted pretty sharpish? It might annoy the mods a bit having to weed them out but it doesn't really compromise anyone's enjoyment of the forum does it? I've never seen spam randomly inserted into a thread that was actually one of ours, and that's what would start to get really annoying.

I've banned a range of Asian IPs this morning and tweaked the registration settings to prevent certain disposable email address domains to be used at registration. We'll see if it makes a difference.

Since it's nearly Christmas, how about lightening the mood of this thread a bit with a wee song?
Something maybe along the lines of:-
