New manager - What are the expectations?

Paul Heckingbottom has been appointed.

It seems most on the forum are underwhelmed. I'd be interested to know how you think the rest of the season will go. Will we improve?

I, personally, am still hopeful we could reach a play-off spot but, realistically I see us finishing about 8th. I can't see us dropping further down the league at least.

Top 6 and nothing less. Otherwise why make a change?

He certainly seems to be well qualified, he's done a good job at Barnsley on a shoestring budget. Time will tell but whilst he's Leeds Uniteds manager he gets my full backing.

We need to become hard to beat first for me ,too many points have been gifted to the other team without them having to break sweat I know the suspensions and injuries have played a part but too many of the players seem to have no stomach for a fight , as I said before in the other thread I think this season has gone so will be just looking for an improvement going into the last part of the season.

If he can sort out the defence and the discipline, maybe make Forshaw captain and have a back-up plan for when games aren't going for us then I don't see why we couldn't make the play-offs. Having said that, I'm wildly optimistic and predict a 4-0 win every game. :)

From LUST.

Well, can't deny that it's a surprising appointment but our new manager Paul Heckingbottom will get our full support #MOT

I expect us to improve early on and I have a feeling of optimism that he might get us near the play-offs. Might be a bit too late to qualify but 16 games left, there's a slight chance.

I'm not expecting play offs, but that's not impossible. I expect to see us more organised, playing more positively, and definitely better possession. Much better discipline too.

For me, the next 6 games are crucial. All teams above/around us.

Sheff Utd - Away
Bristol - Home
Derby - Away
Brentford - Home
Middlesbrough - Away
Wolves - Home

I think if we can stop the gap getting any bigger than 7 points (ideally lowered obvs), then i see no reason we can't have an end up season push and end up 5th/6th

16 games / 48 points remaining, possible total of 92 points, so hope springs eternal that a play off spot is still on.

In reality, it’s more likely a good part of the season to assess what he has, what he needs to give us a real good shot at it next season. That means support from the club, of course, which is a different matter entirely.
