I think if he spent 20-25 million on players this summer that would be a lot for Radz. He has other businesses too that also need his attention which he has to divide up his own money to be able to succeed in them as much as the adventure with LUFC.

As a fan of course i would love him to spend money on acquiring the talent we need to get promoted and stay there etc. but in realistic terms, Radz can't afford it. Is this a bad thing? No because what he invested in the academy is coming to fruition already and the first team can avail of many of those players this coming season. The academy is where Radz and Victor were hoping to develop top young and talented players from around Europe so that they wouldn't be burdened by high costs in the coming seasons and make a very healthy profit if need be. Our assets are secure with the talent we have coming through and we should be in a healthy state in the next two seasons. Lets hope Bielsa can develop the players we have and any in-comings from outside and the academy into a title winning squad.

I agree CW that Radz isnt stinking rich and the money he makes from his other businesses shouldnt be ploughed into LUFC. He has to run LUFC as an entirely seperate business from his other businesses and if the make money then its re-invested in the business.

The academy is working well just look at the age of the under 23s team a lot are still teenagers with only a few around the 21-22 year old mark.

The ones round 21-22 should be looking to break into the 1st team squad in the 19-20 season as if they dont then they will move on this time next year.

Am sure MB will have a few players on his mind to come in butif that means moving people out the so be it.

Also if stupid bids come in for the like's of Kalvin then we would have to take it but we have 3 replacements in Diaz,Gotts and McCalmont who can do Kalvin's job as the defensive midfielder.

It's not like our signings from the last two seasons have been great, we're still using the Monk team pretty much. We've never been huge spenders, so I don't know why some fans are thinking we're suddenly going to turn into Man City overnight? Look at the wendies for example, they've gambled everything on promotion and now are in deep trouble financially, with not many players they can sell for big money. I personally would not want to be in their position. Derby will be the same if they lose.

What's to say our own u23s aren't better than signing other players? They're all trained in Bielsaball and will be coached by a manager who has brought on so many world class players. Some of them have come from clubs like Ajax and Barcelona. We will save a fortune. I've always believed Bielsa was brought here to build a legacy with the u23s rather than to splash the cash on promotion. That looks like what we're doing to me.

Agreed SL.

There are some teams looking to send out feelers for Kalvin and Pontus which could in effect give us a minimum of 20 million at the least. That could then be wisely spent if allocated back into Bielsa's transfer Kitty for 3-4 solid players that he can develop into better players.

The one thing about Marcelo Bilesa is his ability to make a player who would be classed as a league one type of player into a Championship player. He has the ability to raise their game up to another standard. Many players out there will have recognized this about him. A few years ago we were unable to attract players because of the insecurity surrounding the club owners, and the managers/coaches we had. Bielsa is a different ball game quiet literally (excuse the pun) We have the person in charge of team affairs and the coaches he trusts too. He may even try to pries away some of his first team coaches who couldn't come last season yet. We have the nucleus and the heartbeat to something very special all we need now is a real master tactician on the field of play who can implement what Bielsa needs for the whole 90 minutes. What i mean by that is a leader or a team of leaders. A captain like Billy who had his marshal's beside him during the Revie years. Sometimes during the season ended we lacked that leadership to steady the ship. That last month was a prime example. Cooper was a vast improvement this season and i can't fault his magnanimous effort as a captain but he also needed others to step up and be leaders too. Bielsa needs players like this in this squad.

Let's see what the summer transfer market can bring and hope Bielsa and Co can develop for us. I do hope that Bielsa isn't given the run around by the club and commits himself to another season where his armory isn't filled for war because lets face it. Next season it will be a complete different element to the opposition's game plan. This season Bielsa was somewhat unknown by many team managers, but they too will have more knowledge on him and how he plays. So we have to approach the season somewhat differently or somewhat better than we were this season. Bielsa i believe will provide us what we desire if he stays and is allowed a free reign to do it his way.

Is it just me or can anyone else throw some light on why Leeds reached such a bad deal with Getafe regarding Saiz.

I know he wanted to leave but as well as leaving us short in terms of chances created the fact he got so little game time has reduced his value. So Leeds have effectively alloed an asset to depreciate for no significant gain. Not sure many other clubs would have been as considerate.

Bielsa didn't want him to leave but the club allowed it. Obviously its not good to force a player to stay who does not want to, but as it's all public he does not want to play in england then value will fall as other clubs know we have a player we can't play and so will want to offload asap before we have to either pay wages or terminate contract by mutual consent.

Sounds like Radz is preparing to sell the family silver this summer. Difficult transfer window sounds like the sacrifice of Clarke and Philips. He should stop critising mel Morris and follow his example & fund the club to a similar level.

Not sure I agree with this - it's possible (or even probable) that FFP will hit Derby as a result of Morris's financial management, and we all know full well the EFL would be looking at us hard on this if we were in any danger of breaching regs. We all know that it's likely that we'll lose at least one big asset this summer, and frustrating though that is it's pretty normal for a club in our position; we just have to hope AR and Orta get the best price for whoever it is, that Bielsa can accept the loss, and that the funds are re-allocated sensibly (which I have faith they would be with Bielsa and Orta in charge).

Maybe I'm being overly positive, but I don't think we're going to be totally stripped of players, with only 3 I can think of who could step up/would be of interest to lower-Prem clubs (realistically we shouldn't be at risk of losing our top players to Championship competitors).

I have to admit I'm really confused about Samu Saiz. He's exactly the sort of player we missed for the second half of the season; surely it'd be possible to convince him to stay for another season, and if not, he's got to be worth 7 or 8 million? Bizarre situation.

The main thing in my opinion is getting things straight up fast. Just like Dortmund is doing now.
Bielsa confirmed and then players done.
If this means selling then do it now, also with buying. Bielsa needs time with players and getting them up fit and tacticaly ready. We need good full preseason, maybe we can then have less injuries during season.

I agree that we need to get things done asap, persuade MB to stay and get players in before they come back for pre-season.
