Lets face it players will take a nice fat 4 year contract regardless of a clubs financial situation & after our last 15 years we are not in a great place to compete on financial or football reasons (whatever choosing us for "football reasons" means anyway)

I know we seem to have stalled in the transfer market but I would never side with those that either never knew what "Living the Dream" can do or want to have anther go at it and seem to be pleading for vast transfer fees and wages to be thrown at players to entice them towards our club.

After this, we definitely need to get one of the other deals we're working on over the line in the next day or two.Phil Hay
It will be Derby for Florian Jozefzoon. Expected to take up a four-year contract there. #lufc

According to SSN, their source is telling them the player would prefer to join Leeds?DominanceUK wrote:Real shame there, they have brought in 2 fantastic wide players. And what do we do...? If that's true we should be moving heaven & earth to secure his services.

It's hard to get to the heart of what's crippling all of these deals. Some seem to be opportunistic chasing of players we weren't aware of being available until late on (Josefzoon), while others seem to be totally mis-pricing the salary requirements (Vydra and Hernandez). I'm surprised we haven't been linked with more players over the course of the summer - beyond these 3 and the 2 loan signings there haven't even been many concrete links around. I'm hoping that behind the scenes there are a few deals lined up, but it really doesn't seem that way.
On the plus side, we've shifted a lot of dead wood, which must have reduced the wage bill a reasonable amount, and also resulted in a leaner squad of more committed players. Contrary to previous seasons we've also avoided replacing multiple mediocre departures with multiple mediocre incomings. I still have faith - it'll only take 2 strong signings and we'll all feel good again, and that's eminently doable in the timeframe available.

Oldham's 19 year old RB, Tom Hamer, linked. From pictures, he's at least 6ft1, possibly taller - potential CB conversion?
