Enjoy the Olympics especially watching sports I wouldn't normally see.

As Brits we've been spoilt in the last two Olympics with how well we've done, so hope its the same again and we have plenty of medal contenders.

Two South Africa footballers have become the first competitors to test positive for coronavirus in the athletes' village in Tokyo - five days before the start of the Olympic Games.

Absolute madness even thinking of going ahead with the games in my humble.

Personally thought it should have been cancelled way back. I know athletes have trained for this and it's some peoples last chance but to cancel now seems worse.

Olympic Games always reminds me. In February 1959 I was selected to play for the North of England against Stockport County in a trial for the Great Britain football team at the 1960 Rome Olympics. I was centre-half and was made captain on the night and my goalkeeper was a young Bob Wilson (who went on to star for Arsenal) who was then at Loughborough College. Twice, in the first half, I was just about to head a cross clear, when I got clattered from behind. It was Bob Wilson, no shout, no warning. On both occasions the ball broke lose to the centre forward who tapped into an open goal. I always claim that Bob Wilson screwed my chances! The player who got the main centre-half spot was Laurie Brown of Bishop Auckland who went on to play for Spurs.
Perhaps it was for the best as I found out subsequently that the firm I worked for would have only offered me unpaid leave to go to Rome, which I wouldn't have been able to afford.
The game was played on 18 February 1959, her indoors 23rd birthday. Think we had only been going out for a short time then.
I once played against Don Revie.
