Hutchinson's Library of Sports and Pastimes

40 Years in Football

Ivan Sharpe was an amateur international before the First World War and subsequently a journalist. In this fascinating book, he recollects his playing days with the likes of Steve Bloomer and William Foulke and goes on to cover the spread of football around the globe. Sharpe won a gold medal in Stockholm in 1912, he also played for Watford and Derby. He also is one of only two players to play for both Leeds City and Leeds United (the other being Harry Sherwin).

224 pages. A valuable insight into football in the early part of the century. Reprinted in 1954 by The Sportsmans Book Club (see red cover).
