About this book
A Life In Football Without Kicking A Ball
Written by Crewe-born Chris Jones, it tells of his life in football on the admin side spanning almost 40 years.
Starting with the Football Association in 1970, where he was involved in the England set-up during the Sir Alf Ramsey era, the book then takes in spells at Manchester City and Everton, where his spell coincided with the club’s most ever successful period in the mid-1980s under the managership of Howard Kendall – who wrote the foreword to the book – before it closes Chris’s association with the professional game with a spell at Leeds United.
There are also several chapters detailing his time as club secretary of Crewe Alexandra and in following the fortunes of Crewe Corinthians.
