The Gentle Giant: John Charles and the future of football

A biography of the famous Welsh footballer John Charles, born in Cwmbwrla, Swansea on 27 December 1931. John Charles had an illustrious career playing for Swansea City, Leeds United, Juventus, back to Leeds, Cardiff City, Hereford United, Merthyr Tydfil (player-manager), and Swansea FC Youth (coach). At Juventus he was known as Il Gigante Buono, the Gentle Giant. Charles also played international football for Wales and was a key member of the squad that played in Wales' only World Cup finals to date in Sweden in 1958. He stopped playing competitively in 1974, aged 43 years old.


The languages of the book are English and Welsh. Despite the title being in Italian as well, there is no Italian text. Size: 21 x 25 cm ; 128 pages ; black and white and colour images.
