When Football Was Football: Leeds: A Nostalgic Look at a Century of the Club
Profusely illustrated throughout with some of the most iconic images of the club, this book is a visual delight. I was pleasantly surprised when this landed in my hands for Christmas. I was expecting this to be a brief, yet unfulfilling re-hash of other material. While many of these images may be familiar to hardcore fans, I don't think that this many have ever been offered up in one volume, and presented as well as this. Light on text, but its images are where it shines. Well recommended. -S.Gibbard.
David Walker began reporting on Leeds United in 1973. He covered Leeds for The Sun from 1982-85 and then became the Daily Mail's man in Yorkshire. Leeds revival under Howard Wilkinson coincided with David's promotion to the Daily Mail's chief football news reporter. He joined the Mail on Sunday as deputy sports editor, still covering Leeds affairs, in 1997. In 2000 he became an executive director of Leeds United. He is now the Sunday Mirror's sports editor.
