Jabba's Comments

John Armand was the first player to appear for the club who had been born outside of Britain and Ireland. He was a fill-in striker, covering for the likes of Tom Jennings, Percy Whipp and Russell Wainscoat, which makes his scoring ratio particularly impressive. He died in Grimsby in 1974.

Rod Coulson says: John eventually earned his living in the toolroom at Taylor Rustless Fittings on the Leeds Ring Road, Low Wortley and would happily talk about his time at Elland Road. He was very quiet and always a gentleman.
