The rather splendidly-named Harrison Lockhead Fearnley started his playing career with Leeds during the war, joining as an amateur from Bradford PA. He found himself second choice behind first Jim Twomey and then Harry Searson, so he moved on to a variety of clubs, enjoying his longest spell with Newport in the early 1950s and his league career was interspersed with a few spells with non-league sides.

Steve Teale says: He played for Huddersfield Town in 1960 and was later manager of Emley

Barry Atrill says: The 'Harry Fearley' that Steve mentioned is a different player, born in Penistone on 16th June 1935 and was with Huddersfield, Oxford and Doncaster in the 60s before he became Emley's Manager.
