Alan Fowler joined Leeds from Whitehall Printeries, but his time at the club was mainly spent as back-up to the better-known centre forwards of the time like Arthur Hydes and Charlie Keetley. He had a loan spell back at his original club and also at Brodsworth Main Colliery, but he eventually left in search of first team football after just 15 games in 7 years. Had a good spell with Swindon, but was killed towards the end of World War 2 while serving with the Dorset Regiment.
