Cyril Hornby was a versatile midfielder/forward who started out as a fill-in player at Leeds before getting a regular slot in the side in 1933-34. After a brief spell at Sunderland, he returned to Midlands side Oakengate Town - from where he joined Leeds - as player and manager.

Rosemary Windeatt says: Cyril (Cecil) Hornby was my uncle, my mother's eldest brother. Unfortunately he had finished playing before I was born.

Sonya Hornby says: He is my Granddad and his ashes were spread on the West Bromwich Albion Football Ground
