Bob Kane (known as 'Bertie' apparently) was almost signed by Celtic
but stayed with a junior side in Scotland before moving down to Elland
Road in 1935. He got a regular berth in the side in 1936-37, but in
subsequent seasons found himself competing for the number 5 shirt with
Tom Holley. Kane saw service in Gibraltar during the war and made some
guest appearances for Hibs when he was back in the UK. On demob he
returned to Leeds to play just one more game at the start of the
1946-47 season before returning to his native Scotland. He died in
1985.
