Jabba's Comments

An old-fashioned centre-half, brother of Mick Kelly (who also played just 4 games for Leeds), he found he could not get a place in the side ahead of Tom Holley, Jock McDougall and Bob Kane. He moved to Newcastle but the intervention of war ended his league career.

Reiad Chibah says: Was there not a brief spell with Selsdon Wanderers before he turned pro? Jabba says: not sure - the Complete Record says that we signed him from Sandbach Ramblers in September 1935 - when he'd have been just 18 - but doesn't say where he was prior to that.
