Jabba's Comments |
Jack Kelly started his footballing career in his home village of
Hetton-le-Hole before joining Burnley as an amateur. Having joined
Leeds at the start of 1935, Kelly made the number 9 shirt his own the
following year, but was soon displaced himself by Arthur Hydes, and
after a season of Central League football with just the occasional
first team game, he moved on to Birmingham. After a brief stint
in the Midlands, he went to Bury just before the outbreak of war
before retiring back home to Hetton.
James says: Jack died about 6 or 7 years ago age around 84. his
wife Ann is still living in Hetton le hole where Jack returned to
after playing football. ps. I pointed his chimney stack and he lived
just around the corner
