Jabba's Comments |
Jack Lambert was very much 'the one that got away' for Leeds. He
played in just one Division Two fixture before being released to
Doncaster Rovers. 18 months later, Arsenal paid £2,000 for his
services and he was to prove a vital part of Herbert Chapman's
multiple championship-winning side, and bagged a goal in the 1930 FA
Cup Final win over Chapman's old club, Huddersfield. He had a brief
spell in management with non-league Margate, but had returned to
Arsenal on the coaching staff when he met his death in a car accident
in 1940.
