David McAdam was a half-back picked up from a working men's club team by Major Frank Buckley as he strove to rebuild the Leeds side just after the war. Although he played 20 games in his first season, he was to find John Charles and Eric Burdin to be the first choice defenders, so he moved on, spending over ten years at non-league Burton Albion and 4 years at Matlock.
