Jabba's Comments

Peter McConnell signed for Leeds from school, but it took him nearly 5 years to break into the first team. He was switched between defensive and an inside forward role at Leeds before moving on to Carlisle, where he was a first choice player for 7 seasons, making over 300 appearances. He enjoyed a couple of years back in Yorkshire, playing first for Bradford and then moving on to Scarborough as player-coach. He subsequently followed the time-honoured route from football into the pub trade.

Simmy M says: Pete was landlord of the Hare and Hounds pub in Rothwell for many years and was an exellent host and knew how to deal with the youngsters (which included me and my mates nearly 20 years ago). He has since retired to Oulton and the golf course. He's a nice old lad and very funny on the golf course. We share the same birthday and used to buy each other a drink on 3/3, VAT wasn't it Pete? If you read this see you on the next Mark Collin golf day.
