Jabba's Comments

Striker who was unfortunate enough to be at Leeds when Allan Clarke was in his prime. Played just 4 games in 5 years with the club, and it wasn't until he moved on to Bristol City that he found himself a regular place. Former Leeds player Norman Hunter brought him back up to Yorkshire to play for Barnsley, but by 1983 his career was heading back down away from the professional game.

Jabba says: Cheers to Barry from Somerset for the photo.

Pete Smith says: hi jimmmy rememebr me..its pete smith..saw your site what memories..still not as fast as me though r u ???

Pete Smith (again) says: hi ..yes i went to school with jimmy ..i was the one that used to make him run..on the track..enjoyed his football and followed him..was proud he put goole on the map as a footballer..well done jim

Charlotte Mann says: I know Jimmy Mann he's my father. He is planning to publish his life story (the early years) sometime this year! Look out for it, it's very entertaining, a wild read! Lots of football and pheasants being throttled.

Joe Hodgson says: Hi, mann lovers everywhere. My dad went fishing with the one and only Jimmy Mann! 'Hoggy' they call my dad. He once had a game of football against my dad and his mates with his fishing waders on! He still beat them all!

Neil says: Used to drink with Jimmy in a pub down south. A good bloke, though I was disgusted to hear that he was cheering for Celtic in the Semi-Final in 1970 whilst on the books at Leeds.

Rev Kev, Wigan says: A star player, brilliant dead ball specialist and guaranteed to hit the spot from 25-30 yards out. How Bristol City miss his qualities even today.

Russ says: Many Bristol City fans consider Jimmy Mann to have scored the greatest goal ever by anyone playing for City. He struck the ball from over 30 yards into the top corner having beaten a couple of players to get there. What made it so memorable was that it was against European Champions Forest and the keeper was Shilton in his prime. This was 25 years ago to the month (Sept 1979).
