Jabba's Comments

Albert Nightingale was an immmensely popular player who was well known in Yorkshire after a successful career with Sheffield United, but it was at Leeds that he really came into his own, scoring freely and combining well with John Charles. At the age of 32, he picked up a knee injury in a game against Everton that was enough to end his career.

Brian Thomas says: Albert invented "diving" he could be tripped on the halfway line and hit the penalty area. He was a great player though and had the looks of a latin film star. Great entertainer.

Mark says: I am Albert's grandson. He is alive and well, living in Huddersfield. He comes to matches regularly with me at Anfield [sorry to all Tykes]. If you want to cotact him ring my dad on 01517228528

Jim Wingham says: Hi my name is Jim Wingham. Albert is a distance relation. When I was a lad he often came and visited my mum and dad at Pontefract. I have fond memories of those visits. When you next see him tell Albert my dad come to live with us in November 2002 and he died September of last year aged 90.

Tom says: hi there,im Gwyns daughters best friend,Tom.i wanted to say that he has two fabulous daughters,Grace and Faye,i stay at his house more than 4times a week and he has a great sense of humour and works very hard, plus at ridiculous hours of the morning!

Kim Parkin says: Albert is my uncle. I'm trying to find out more about my dad (Alberts brother), who also played football but I'm not sure who for. His name was Samson Nightingale. Any one know?

Bill Nightingale says: I am a cousin of Albert and about the same age. when he played for sheffield he visited my parents many weekends at South Elmsall.I watched him play often.
