Versatile midfielder who was signed by Billy Bremner and was an effective defensive player in a unit than needed to feed the skills of John Sheridan. With the likes of David Batty and Gary Speed coming on, and with Vinnie Jones signed up, Wilko didn't see the need to hang on to him, and he was released in summer 1989. He might not have had the most stellar career, but he continued to give solid service to a number of clubs, and his 3 years at Coventry showed that he could have done a reasonable job for Leeds in the Premiership.

Dave Clark says: IIRC he mostly played centre-back under Revie, next to Brendan Ormsby at first. Maybe a bit lightweight, but a hard worker. I think he played in our Cup semi (at centreback again).

Rev Kev, Wigan says: Watched David Rennie at bristol City. Yelled at him that he was rubbish in a match v Cambridge. He didn't prove me wrong that day.
