Jabba's Comments

Not only did Don Weston score on his Leeds debut, he scored a hat-trick! He'd earlier joined Wrexham on demob from the army and was soon a regular scorer. A short and unsuccessful stay at St Andrews followed, before he moved to spend two good years with Rotherham which cemented his reputation and convinced Don Revie that Weston could help Leeds get out of Division 2. He wasn't quite a successful in the top flight, but when he dropped down to play at a lower level, he kept on playing professionally until he was 32.

Ian Johnson says: In the old days we used to travel on the same train from away games as the team. On the way back from Arsenal the team were accessible and Don was propping up the bar and was very pleasant to me and my dad when I asked for his autograph. I think Don had scored that day! Thanks for the memory, Don. Hope he's well.Does anyone know?

James Iles says: I recently interviewed Don for BCFC matchday programme. He was a true gent, he lives in Mansfield now and shared some great memories of his footballing career with me. Excellent website by the way.

M Herring says: I saw Don Weston play for Leeds with the likes of Storrie, Lawson and he was one of my favorites he was very fast

OP Dawson says: About 10 years ago, my Dad bought a maroon Vauxhall carlton from Don Weston's dealership in Mansfield. Even though a lifelong Spurs fan, I enjoyed his reminiscences about Leeds, and he showed me some medals from his career. The car turned out to be a nightmare, always breaking down - but Don was a true gent, and I'm sure it wasn't his fault!

Peter Weston says: hi my name is peter weston and from mansfield i dont no if i was from my side of the family
