After a career spent in the lower divisions, Wilko picked up Kamara from Stoke in the run-in to promotion in 1990. He was known as a combative player - sometimes going a little bit too far over the top: an elbow on an opposition player during his time at Swindon landed him with a court appearance in addition to the obvious grief from the FA. He only made 9 appearances that season, but his commitment and his power in the air certainly helped in a few crucial games. After 18 months with Leeds, he moved on to Luton, then returned to Yorkshire with Sheffield United. He has had spells in management with Stoke and Bradford City and is now a regular summariser and presenter for Sky Sports.

Michael Tarpey says: Chris Kamara is the coolest guy around, especially after his banzai appearance. we aintree road brothers have named our street game after him...Chris Kamara Street Football. we ask chris for his support in helping us fight the nieghbours in out battle to legalise C.K street football.

300 Minute Man says: On my way to the start of the London Marathon in 1999, I saw Chris queueing up to relieve himself of some of the gallons of water he had taken on board earlier that morning. I greeted him by name and wished him all the best. He responded enthusiastically and seemed genuinely dismayed when he got to the end of his good luck message but could not address me by my name. He muttered 'Yeah thanks. Good luck to you too er...........mate' I was pleased to see afterwards that he had returned an excellent time. When he finished I was still at the wrong side of the Tower of London. Well done, Chris.

paul robson says: Chris Kamara is a real gent met him a couple of times in Tenerife where he owns property he uses a Irish bar called the Hole in the wall and he even sings in there and is good but has time for everyone what a guy

Eddie Webb says: Chris had agreed to do a presentation to some kids I had been coaching in Armley, Leeds but was under treatment for a serious ankle injury. I expected him to cry off, but he turned up on crutches and not only made the presentation but refereed a game from the centre circle whilst still on his crutches. He spent ages with those kids, signing autographs and making them feel special. I am sure they will never forget the occasion. Seems typical of him, top man

Emmarooney says: I met Chris at the Home Nations Masters football tournament 2004 in Cardiff. He is the 2nd coolest person I have ever met!!!! (after Everton's Kevin Campbell) He chatted to me for ages and signed an autograph for me. Then I had a photo with him. He even said "This is unbelievable, Jeff!" when I asked him to!!!! He always has time for fans and is one of the nicest guys around.

Tomo says: I met Chris Kamara in 1993 in a pub in Spain. He was drinking Sangria with Peter Jackson. Jacko was taking the mickey out of his pencil line mustache which yes he did have even back then. He then took to the stage and sung a flawless rendition of Dancing On The Ceiling before signing autographs and swigging several pints of the local ale. What a feller he is always up for a laugh and loves football!!

Matt Heg says: Chris Kamara. What can i say the bloke should be priminister or something. He's a class act and a true gent, such a laugh on sky sports. lovin the tasche!
