Steve Hodge was a veteran of several top clubs when he joined
Leeds, but spent most of his time on the bench as the midfielders he
would have replaced kept their fitness and form. An enthusiastic
player and with no small talent, he played well when Leeds needed him,
but did not add to his 24 caps after arriving at Elland Road. He only
scored 10 goals in his time at Leeds - but he gave us all something to
remember him by when he found the net against Liverpool at Elland Road
to give Leeds the first win against the Reds in 18 years. After leaving
Watford Hodge had a spell out in Hong Kong before returning to play
for Leyton Orient on a non-contract basis.
In summer 2002 it was reported that he'd started training with non-league
side Gresley Rovers, managed by our very own Jon Newsome!
