Jabba's Comments |
Played a few times in 1996 and sometimes looked okay, sometimes out
of his depth. Injured for a while, had a year out of the first team
before coming on as a sub against Wimbledon at the end of 1997-98. He
had a loan spell at Huddersfield but found himself overlooked on his
return to Leeds.
Mark became a regular in the reserves, but with the injuries
clearing up and the arrival of Michael Duberry, his future prospects
didn't look good. In the end he was released and went to Scunthorpe on
a free transfer in March 2000. After an injury knocked him out of
contention at the start of 2000-01, Mark returned to the side and did
well at right back and centre back - and even managed to score the
first goal of his professional career. In 2001-02 he only missed one
game, captaining the side on several occasions and scoring the winner
in the crunch game against local rivals Hull.
