"The Terminator" (a nickname he apparently dislikes) made a good
start to his Leeds career, helping to steady the defence at the end of
last season. In 97-98, he looked less certain, and despite a
brilliant (maybe a bit of a fluke) goal against Blackburn, he was
pulled at half time and was much less of a regular since.
In 98-99, he was back in the side as the first choice centreback
ahead of David Wetherall, and despite his occasional lack of pace on
the ground, his good positional sense, presence in the air and better
distribution were essential to the team's success.
A late challenge from Nicolas Anelka and an awkward fall as a
result curtailed his season: ligament damage meant he was out of the
side until the start of 2000.
Unfortunately he didn't make it back for 1999-2000, suffering
a setback in his recovery programme, but started pre-season training
a couple of weeks early with a view to being fully fit for 2000-2001.
He moved on to Bradford City to try to help them in their relegation
fight, and despite doing enough to convince the management that he
was worth keeping, he couldn't do enough to help them stay up.
He played on at Bradford to the end of the 2002-03 season when he
was released from his contract with the club - like many others - in a
pretty poor financial position. He has now returned to his native
Holland and signed on with RBC Roosendaal in the top division.
Tedros Medhin says: Robert Molenaar is the best player ever! He
has a great inzicht as they call it in Dutch. He is our national hero.

Joost Linssen says: Rbc is amazing! Robert molenaar rocks
Ste says: Erm, hmmmmmmmmmmmmm basically you wouldnt want to meet
him down a dark alley or in the final 3rd but lets be honest - once
your passed him your passed him, less pace than a dead female slug but
a surely a cult legand - I recently heard a nasty rumour that the
crazy Dutchman was linked with us on a free but lets be faiur if this
terminator says i'll be back were in real trouble. x
