Jabba's Comments

Bruno was signed by Leeds after George Graham spotted him while watching Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and is now a first-team regular. He has a powerful shot and good ball control and generally operates in a left-sided role.

He scored a couple of excellent goals in 1997-98, and set up a few more, but needs to control his temper: he's picked up quite a few bookings and has been in danger of seeing the red card on at least 2 occasions so far.

Injured at the start of the 98-99 season, he worked his way back to fitness and celebrated his return with a goal against Wimbledon. He never really regained his place in the midfield under David O'Leary In summer 1999, he was mentioned as make-weight in several transfer deals, but remains at the club - but wants to leave unless he gets first team games.

He moved on to Sheffield United in October 1999 for £500,000 but returned to Portugal - on loan at Uniao Leiria - after falling out with the management and then moved to SC Beira-Mar permanently in 2001. In 2002-03 he moved on to play for Santa Clara in the Portuguese 1 Liga.

Darryl Powell of Sheffield Wednesday says: bruno was a pro i played golf with him a couple of times he was nearly as good at golf then football.

Bruno's teacher! says: I was at Bruno's head teacher at school in Portugal. He was always a delight at sports, but was a cheeky rascal in class.
