Jabba's Comments

Jack Allen was one of the first 'ones that got away'. Having been signed to Leeds in 1922, he only played two games before moving on, but he enjoyed considerable success after that. Switching from outside left to centre forward, he picked up two League Championship medals with Sheffield Wednesday, and having moved on to Newcastle United he scored both goals in their FA Cup win in 1932.

He retired in 1936, and like many footballers since moved into the licensed trade. He died at the comparatively young age of 54.

Roy Gaynor says: Do we know where Jack was in 1939-40?
