I said a few weeks ago the only way we buy a striker is if Bamford gets injured before the end of August. We'll definitely buy a ST now, the question is, will it be a panic buy?Aaron wrote: ↑13 Aug 2022, 14:46We need one, without a doubt. We probably need two, the two we have cannot be relied upon.blackbox2342 wrote: ↑13 Aug 2022, 14:42 Bamford and Joffy injured. We definitely need a new striker.

Hopefully, it's a blessing in disguise - I've just commented in the match thread that Bamford seemingly always about to return from injury simply gives us all false hope that the board and management for some peculiar reason are buying into. The money is there to go out and get someone, let's hope it isn't a panic buy like you mentionedDominanceUK wrote: ↑13 Aug 2022, 14:56I said a few weeks ago the only way we buy a striker is if Bamford gets injured before the end of August. Need to show our intent and sign at least 1 striker

This might be an unpopular view but whilst Patrick Bamford is, and always will be, one of the heroes that got us to the Promised Land, we can't carry on month after month waiting for him to get back to full fitness and firing on all cylinders. He hardly played at all last season and he's started this season - yes I know it's only two games! - as if he is as fragile as a fragile thing. Perhaps we might be lucky if he clocks up more that 20 games this season. Joffy is worryingly injured again
IMHO we need to be looking for a first choice No. 9 striker now and not wait until the next Transfer Window or the one next Summer

I don't think this is an unpopular view but a realistic one. Bamford's and Joffy's injury records are public, it's patently clear another striker is needed and I don't imagine CDK would have come to be second choice!PhoenixUnited wrote: ↑13 Aug 2022, 16:25 This might be an unpopular view but whilst Patrick Bamford is, and always will be, one of the heroes that got us to the Promised Land, we can't carry on month after month waiting for him to get back to full fitness and firing on all cylinders. Hopefully built like a brick outdoor facility, to put the fear of God into defenders.

Paper talk already in flow! The Sun reporting that Leeds could join the race to sign for Brereton Diaz, who’s set to cost around £20m with less than 12 months remaining on his Blackburn contract.

That's a big fee for a championship player with only 12 months left and half a good season last yearblackbox2342 wrote: ↑13 Aug 2022, 21:49 Paper talk already in flow! We've been linked with him a few times but suspect its lazy journalism bringing a old story back to life.HalifaxWhite wrote: ↑14 Aug 2022, 09:00That's a big fee for a championship player with only 12 months left and half a good season last yearblackbox2342 wrote: ↑13 Aug 2022, 21:49 Paper talk already in flow! Does seem like Bamford is done. Although, would the club persist with him if they knew he was. I’m certain they want to avoid a repeat do last season, although we are more likely. To be bottom half than top half.
A natural goal scorer who stays fit, bad luck aside, is essential now. We can’t rely on three teams being worse than us again - as right now, with the goals of a natural striker to support Rodrigo - there aren’t three that are worse…..
