Sadly affected by the huge flower loss issue. Bees, pollinators, insects dieing out, so not as much food for the migrators to feed, breed and therefore return.

Crazy but just had the sparrowhawk on one of our garden arches virtually next to a wood pigeon.
The Pigeon just starred out the sparrowhawk until it flew off.

Not really they attack numerous types of birds including pigeons, seen it many times.

Here is a bit of education for you from a bird website -

Sparrowhawks are one of the most prolific hunting birds with over 120 species of birds having been recorded as sparrowhawk prey. They have also been known to capture small mammals, such as bats in flight.

Female sparrowhawks are usually 25% larger than males, and can tackle birds that weigh up to 500 g including pigeons, starlings, thrushes and Magpies.

About 10 years ago when "The Shack" was an aviary I was sitting watching the birds whilst I was having a cuppa when a Sparrowhawk slammed into the wire and rebounded onto the ground. I was sure it was dead because of the speed it hit the wire at. I was about to get up of the seat when it rolled up onto its feet and took of over the roof top. Magnificent little bird .
