Liam Bridcutt

Post by mapperleywhite »

He was taken off late in the game at Brentford - no mention of an injury.

Before the game with Preston he says he has a hamstring problem.

Vieira and Phillips had a great game against Preston.

He was absent injured during our pre-Christmas rise to the play-off places.

IMO his passing is wayward exactly what you don't want from a DM.

Would you play him against Newcastle?

Tough call for GM.

Bridcutt is not in his best run of form but he has lots of qualities and may just rise to the occasion.

Vierra and Philips are looking good and if is purely down to performance they would be picked.

Think he will choose his captain though.

Yeah, I'd stick with him, especially against the Toon. Experience could be key. Granted Vieira and Philips played well and neither deserve to be dropped on those performances, but their form is patchy too, don't usually get a run of good games from either of them. As long as Bridcutt is at least on the bench, I'll be happy with any selection.

It would be harsh on Phillips and Vieria after their performances on Saturday so I say stick with them. I like Bridcutt but we seem to be more attack minded without him and I will always plump for that. These young lads need to experience the big games as well, and as there is little expectation then it seems sensible to give them the opportunity with the play offs looking a distinct possibility.

I'd start with him on the bench, and bring him on with 25-30 mins to go if we're not losing. I think he could be useful to tighten things up in midfield and break down opposition attacks, but not much use if we're behind and chasing the game.

Yes if 'fit' - his non-involvement was kept under wraps pre-Preston

Yes I like your take on this phil.

Against Preston we saw Roofe and Hernandez making more of a contribution in an attacking sense - yeah a bit obvious I know as they both scored.

Away games GM tends to be more conservative, so wouldn't surprise me to see Doukara and Dallas start - both hard working - and have Pedraza and Roofe in reserve...

Gosh seem to have strayed from the LB theme a bit....
