Bolton Abbey & Shanghai both correct
Will have a further think on the castle but don't think it's one I've been to so that cancels out a few of the biggies such as Edinburgh, Stirling, Windsor, etc.
But it looks decent size so shoukd have heard of it.

I once in a distant life painted Bolton Abbey and a very nice gentleman on the forum kindly bought it allowing me to donate the money to the local animal sanctuary.Selby White wrote:

Re: Where am I ?
A few years back we did a road trip in Scotland "North Coast 500" which is another story but on the way up and back from Inverness we got a Scottish historical pass and visited lots of castles, the big three were of course Edinburgh, Stirling and Urquhart, the rest were fairly small so I'm 99% sure its not Scotland.
A few I've not done in England so its possibly one of those but I'm thinking Wales or Ireland of which have not visited any.
Probably miles out though
